RE: GENERAL MOTORS / 2001 CHEVY MALIBU - many problems - motor caught fire

THIS IS DUE TO THE 2001 CHEVY MALIBU. THAT WAS PURCHASED IN OCT, 2001. AT PERFORMANCE CHEVROLET IN CHAPEL HILL, NC. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR 7 MONTHS AND HAD TO HAVE 4 BELTS, TENSIONER PULLEY, VISOR CLIP, AC COMPRESSOR, ABS BRAKES FAILED, FRONT AND REAR STABILIZER BUSHINGS, DOOR PANEL, REPLACED ENGINE.

THEN THE NEXT DAY AFTER I GOT THE CAR BACK I HAD TO RETURN BACK OVER AT THE DEALER TO FIX A LOOSE BRACKET AND REPLACE ANOTHER BELT.

THEN NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS LATER THE MOTOR CATCHES ON FIRE IT STARTED WITH THE SMELL OF GAS. THEY'VE HAD THE CAR ABOUT THREE WEEKS AND STILL NOT FOUND THE PROBLEM AND WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. I HAVE HAD A BIG RUN AROUND WITH THEM OVER GETTING THEM TO REPLACE MY CAR I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ME OR MY FAMILY.

I'M VERY LUCKY THE CAR COUGHT ON FIRE IN MY YARD AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. AND I'M GLAD THAT NO ONE WAS IN IT AT THE TIME. MY HUSBAND WAS WARMING THE CAR UP AND WITHIN 5 MINS. IT WAS ON FIRE. I WOULD LIKE ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN OFFER!

TRUELY YOURS
