Mr. Coffee coffee maker U-Series - coffee grounds in the coffee, water/coffee spewing out

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on May 14, 2002:

I purchased a Mr. Coffeemaker U-Series approximiately two months ago. I have made numerous pots of coffee with coffee ground, in the coffee, water/coffee spewing out and on to the counter. I have been unable to get all the grounds out of the pot with out immersing it which I know will ruin the pot and void the warranty.

I make sure the pot is in place snuggley and that the basket is securely in place and I still have trouble with grounds or coffee on the counter.

I have had several Mr. Coffee makers through out the years and have never experienced this problem. Are there other people with this complaint or am I an isolated customer. I would appreciate your input as to what I am doing wrong. Thank you for looking in to this matter for me. Betty J Taylor
