RE: 1999 Honda Accord - paint peeling right behind the rear tires

Hello, My name is Billie S. Webb. I'm 51 years old and I live in Cleveland,

Tennessee. I purchased a 1999 Honda Accord (used) in December 31, 2000, from Jeep City in Cleveland, Tennessee. Since that time, I have loved the car. I have enjoyed the car more than any other I have ever owned- and believe me, I have had several cars in my lifetime. But I am having a problem with the paint on my Accord. On the back panels located right behind the rear tires, there appears to be a delamination of the paint. It is not "chipped" -- it is "peeling." The Honda dealership here in Cleveland performs the routine maintenance on my car.

The staff there is excellent, however, no one there seems to be able to make a determination on the damage to paint. The last observance I had from them was that it was "road hazard" and there would be nothing they could do.

However, they said a specialist that comes from time to time would be able to evaluate the damage and make a determination. I have owned many cars in my lifetime. I have had, and expect, regular road damage due to rocks, etc. However, this is a clear delamination of the paint. It is peeling and continues to peel into a larger spot. The spots right now are about the size of a half dollar on one side and about the size of a quarter on the other side. Let me say, once again, the staff at Honda of Cleveland are friendly and have been super in everything they have ever done for me. I plan to continue to do business with them. However, since no one there is able to make a determination, I am asking for help. The excuses I am getting are unsatisfactory. There is a difference between "chipped" and "peeling" paint. A chip should not lead to delamination and clearly peeling paint. Thank you in advance for your help, Billie S. Webb
