RE: Ortho Weed-B-Gone - trying to eliminate Dollar Weed - aka Broad Leaf Weed - from lawn - ended up killing St. Augustine grass - terribly disappointed with outcome

After researching how to eliminate Dollar Weed in my lawn it was recommended on the Ortho Web page that Ortho Weed-B-Gone is the product to use.

I purchased Ortho Weed-B-Gone to element dollar weed (Broad Leaf Weed) form my yard some four weeks ago. I mixed the product according to the directions specified on the label. I am terribly disappointed in the outcome.

After two weeks the grass broke off the roots like hair falling out of ones head. It has kill my St. Augustine grass. Still the broad leaf weed remains. I contacted our State University Turf Science Department and they told me that I should have not used this product. I don't understand why a company such as Oath would even sell it in South Florida in many of the home improvement stores.

Based upon my correspondence from our University I am not the only one that has had this problem. My direction from the Turf Science Department was to wait at least 10 weeks in hope that the lawn comes back. In the meantime the lawn continues to turn brown.

There is now seed for St. Augustine Grass therfore I will likely have to resod the entire yard. Imagine the cost..!
