RE: Gateway - Profile 4 - replaced motherboard - ongoing problems with PC and support from Gateway
Hi - I have purchased two Gateway computers and have had trouble with both. The first one had to have the modem replaced after two months because of 75 fatal exceptions. I thought I would buy another and everybody warned me against it but I said what is my luck of getting another lemon. Well my bad luck was very very good. Then I made the mistake and bought my second Gateway a Profile 4 and after three months it had to be shipped to Irving Texas to have the Mother Board replaced and it came back and it is worse than ever. It is grinding and popping and they said to send it back to Texas.
If they fixed it in the first place that would not be necessary. I have spoken to a computer technician and he said he would bet his life that they never replaced the Mother Board and he thiinks the grinding gears is just the exhaust fan a $5.00 part.
Gateway is not willing to replace the computer or refund my money but I will never purchase another Gateway as long as I live. I have spent hours on the phone and online with their technical help and they have blamed it on everything they could think of because they are not familiar with this computer. Gateway should not put a computer on the market if they have nobody to service them and theirs techs are not familiar with them. They do not offer onsite repairs. Also nobody in Michigan can fix a Profile 4. They have not got the bugs out of this new computer.
