RE: AOL Internet Service - cancelled trial service - still billed - trying to get refund

I'm complaining on behalf of my relative who has been trying to retrieve his money from AOL for the past 4-5 months. He used their service for the month trial period, where on onset you are required to give a bank account number and cancel at the end of the month.

He cancelled his account, but they continued to withdraw the money from his account. He called every month and was told that they would credit the account with 10-15 days. His bank account is now closed and they are claiming they tried to credit the money to the account, but because it was closed they now have to put a trace on the money.

Instead of getting his address and mailing him a refund, they have strung him along for several months, expecting him to be patient. They didn't wait to take his money and he is being held responsible to pay the bank their fees. AOL is acting extremely irresponsibly. Shonett Ellison
