Discount Mortgage Center, Woonsocket, RI - wouldn't give release of home appraisal so Ameriquest could use the same home appraisal

Complaints.com received the following on March 14, 2003:

RE: Discount Mortgage Center, Woonsocket, RI - wouldn't give release of home appraisal so Ameriquest could use the same home appraisal

I applied for a mortgage to refinance my home with Discount Mortgage Center of Woonsocket, RI. The name of the loan officer was Mike Tuhulo. We paid $250.00 out of pocket for the appraisal of my home. We were later denied the loan because of my employment status.

We approached our current lender and they agreed to refinance the loan. Ameriquest said that they could use the appraisal we just had done and save us the expense of another appraisal. We asked the appraiser to transfer the apppraisal to Ameriquest.

We were told by the apprasor, they would transfer it, as soon as they got a release from Discount Mortgage Center. Discount Mortgage Center would not give the release, saying they did not beleive that Ameriquest would give us the loan and wanted details of what Ameriquest was doing. We have filed a complaint with the Mass. Attorney General's Office. Robert J. Brouder
