RE: ev1.net - unable to use Internet service on sites that require username / password access
Signed up for ev1 internet service. After trying for three weeks to use the internet and not being able to access any of my sites that required an ID and password, I cancelled the service. I had called their technical support many times and the last time I was told that there must be something wrong with my phone service and call the phone company to have them fix it.
The phone company came out three times checking my lines and searching for any problems. I notified ev1 that there was nothing wrong in the phone line, that they had been throughly checked. I still was not able to use the internet for the sites that I needed access to.
I cancelled because I did not want to pay for internet access that was inaccessable. They refunded the first month's charge since I was unable to use it but refused to refund the setup charge of approximately $31.50, claiming that the internet service was set up. True, it was set up (consisting of giving a user ID & password) or I would have never known that the connection between ev1 and my computer was impossible for a proper connection. I had spent hours working with anything that they suggested to make it work.
Therefore, I contend that the setup did not work and the fee should be refundable. I never received the full use of the product that they were advertising and selling. This event took place in January 2003 and I will never recommend the company that does not stand behind their product. I still feel that they owe the setup fee refund to me.
