Have read your complaints about head gasket problems on the land rover freelander.Guess what, our one has gone too!! Land rover will not repair because we bought privately.

The car is just over 3 years old and has just done 20,000 miles. We all need to stand up to this company and bring this to public attention, please e-mail me to discuss options.

Our LR Freelander had a head gasket failure at 66K. All was covered because we had the warranty up to 100K.

I highly recommend spending a little on the warranty (on any car purchased, regardless of "reputation"), it is worth its' weight in gold!

Just thiught i would post my views on the Freelander.I bought mine on a Y plate new from a main dealer.Since the first day i had it ( a three door) it leaked into the rear boot safe and continued to leak for approximatel three years and three visits for new rear seals. Two year ago it had a replcement head gasket. The cooling system began to leak some eight months ago so when i complained that the gasket had not lasted more than 18mths Matford Landrover checked it and i was told the heater unit was leaking. This was replaced at approx 500 pounds.it still leaked coolant and went back to the dealers two months later. This time i was told it was the water pump.I paid for this to be replaced approx 250 pounds.Guess what...it still leaked coolantIt has just come back having had a new engine fitted cost 4000 pounds. Now as i have always had the car dealer serviced have owned it since new and had repeatedly said it was a cylinder head gasket you can understand why i am not happy. My advice to anyone contemplating buy a Freelander is DONT.The new edition Freelander comes out in two years it would be a demonstration ofthe strengh of bad feeling and lack of trust in the product if everyone read this forum and no puschases of the new vehicle were made.Landrover sell thier product as a hard wearing robust durable and reliable vehicle which within reason will perform in an ardous enviroment....you only need look at the sales brochures to see the products and how they are portrayed.

This is completely misleading.I am totally dissatisfied with the product...to be fair Matford have always been good to me.So i would say to Landrover UK sit up an ever increasing number of customers are complaining about your product.Assume some responsibility and acknowledge the problem. Then fix it, you vehicle cost enough.I won't be buying another.....
