GE washing machine - purchased in 1994 - has rotten egg odor

It is a GE and I bought it in 1994.

My washing machine has a terrible rotten egg odor the first load I wash. I am single and live alone so I don't do laundry every day. How can I get rid of this smell. Jeri Lohr
