NEXTEL WIRELESS - phone cut-off erroneously due to non-payment, poor customer experience

I have been battling back and forth with the "great service of Nextel wireless celluar service" for 30 days and counting. On January 18, 2002, I made payment via phone (credit card) in the amount of $207 to Nextel. On February 22, 2002, I was contacted by voicemail that my phone would be disconnected due to non-receipt of the payment. I quickly called Nextel to make a dispute to see if this was some type of mistake because my records indicated differently but they disagreed and disconnected my service. On February 22, I faxed a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment being made to Nextel which should have been confirmation for there records and indicate some type of internal problem and reconnect my service. Originally, I was told the dispute would take 2/3 days which increased to 7/14 days which I found out during one of my several status calls on my inquiry.

On March 18, my credit card company faxed a letter of confirmation to me and I forwarded to Nextel explaining once again the payment was made in "good faith". As of March 22, my dispute is still outstanding and I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau citing Nextel is incapable of resolving complaints in a timely manner for there client(s).

Meanwhile, I received a call from a supervisor and manager on conference call asking me to give Nextel (72 hours) to solve my dispute. My reply "I've waited 30 days so I guess I can wait another 3 days but this is unacceptable service on your company's behalf". Although, I have (3) additional accounts with this company, I feel the need to "shut it down" and take my business elsewhere to another wireless service who may or may not appreciate me. At this point, what is customer service? Does it exist anymore? I thought the September 11 tragedy changed this world including the people and companies in it. Thank you for the space to vent and complain about the "great service of Nextel". Signed: Stay Tuned.
