Micron PC has absolutely awful product support / parts availability.

 

Common accessories and replacement parts simply aren't available through any source, once ANY machine reaches its first birthday.

 

I have a TRANSPORT ZX PIII 500mhz notebook, much less than 2 years old. The battery door / cover ( a small plastic slip-on panel, which is not attached to the main unit) was lost. Tried contacting Micron, 'is it over a year old' the said, then:

 

"please contact our additions department for those parts. You can contact them by phone 800-874-2943 or on the net www.micronpcplus.com" unquote. contacting this number got the response, this part is not available. when I mentioned that from personal experience, all the major manufacturers, compaq, ibm, dell, toshiba, hp make this part available for their machines, I got the response "this is micron we are dealing with here". It is ridiculous to have a machine that is barely a year old and be unable to obtain such a simple part. Short of duct taping, it renders the machine all but useless for want of a 50cent part. But from reading the other postings, this appears to be the norm. I am often asked to recommend notebook and desktop computers, can't say I'm able to recommend micron.
