My mother a I both bought GE washer in 1997, we both experienced transmission problems, but because the water leaked into the washer causing it to rust from the inside the washers were unrepairable. Our local Rosa's store were we purchased the washers replaced the washers mine in 1999. Once again I had a transmission problem with the G.E. washer causing it to rust from the inside again.
I contacted G.E. consumer relations and was told that the transmission was covered by warranty but because of the extensive rust they did not recommend replacing it. I asked what recourse I had, they stated they would give me $40.00. I am a single mother with four children, I did not expect to have to purchase a washer every 2-3 years. I feel that G.E. new about this problem because of the returns.
I cannot be the only consumer to be experiencing these problems. I am going to try to do a survey of the local repair shops to calculate the amount of repairs to these transmission. If you have any further advice please contact me.
