RE: Kenmore electric dryer model 110.63032101 - purchased Nov., 2002 - began rattling all over in about 1 months time - replacement dryer began to vibrate after about 3 months - service person called problem a design flaw

In November of 2002, we purchased a Kenmore dryer model 110.63032101 electric dryer to match our newly replaced Kenmore washer. We had previously had Whirlpool appliances of which lasted 10 years. The first dryer purchased in November began rattling all over in about a month’s time. It vibrated so bad that you could not hear normal conversation in the next room even with the laundry room door closed. Our local Sears store in Mineola, TX, replaced the dryer around Thanksgiving. The second dryer lasted a little longer and started vibrating after about 3 months.

The service man was called out to evaluate and fix the dryer. He could not fix the problem and called it a “design flaw” that the drum was too large for the cabinet so that it started things vibrating. I called the Sears store and they promptly replaced it with another dryer of the same model and stated that “maybe the first two had been previously dropped in the warehouse prior to shipment.” They delivered the third dryer around the 15th of April, 2003. This weekend, June 1st, the third dryer started vibrating in the same manner as the previous two. I called the service man to come out next week and evaluate the situation. The Sears store manager stated that we’d let the service man evaluate the problem and she would go from there. I do appreciat how the manager has gone out of her way to accommodate me with the replacement of my dryer 3 times! But I do want a reliable dryer as I wash several loads of clothes a week as I have a small child and two shedding dogs. I also have a service contract on this dryer but never had a single service call on my Whirlpool. My complaint is to notify Sears that this particular dryer must have some design flaws or I wouldn’t be having this continuous problem with the same model. Thanks for listening, Donna Lanier Lindale, Tx
