RE: Porter Cable 7HP 80 Gal. 2 Stage, oil-lube Compressor - motor froze up after approx. 20 hours of use
The Debelvis 7HP motor used on the Porter Cable 80 Gal., 2-Stage Oil-Lube Compressor froze up after approximately 20 hours of use. This does appear to be a manufacturer defect, but Porter Cable will not warranty it. Because of its light use, this defect did not appear until after the 1 year warranty expired.
Amount of use would not be taken into consideration by Porter Cable. We have to pay for a new motor. The bottom line here is that this is a professional shop compressor, that normally would be used 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week.
We have a very small shop so have not used this compressor very much at all. There is no reason for a motor on a professional compressor to freeze up in this short of total hour use.
Replacement of this motor is a reasonable request. The new motor for this compressor will only be warrantied for 3 months by Porter Cable. We paid $900 for this compressor. Are we going to have to put a motor in it once or twice a year? This is my complaint. May the buyer beware.
