RE: British Gas Home - Warm Service Contract - can't reach agreement about how carpet will be protected from shoes of service workers We have three small children and a new carpet and do not allow shoes to be worn in the house.
British Gas Engineers are not allowed to take their shoes off because of health and safety. I can understand this while they are working in case they drop a tool on their foot.
So, we have put down a protective sheet by the boiler and asked them to carry their shoes to the protective sheet and put them back on to work. Unfortunately, they can not do this either incase they stub their toes.
So, we suggested that they supply their engineers with overshoes but they will not do that. We have offered to supply overshoes for their engineers but due to health and safety they can not wear them. However, if I put cardboard down on the floor they can walk on that. Where is the logic in that? I am sure that cardboard on a wooden floor is just as slippery as plastic overshoes. Will British Gas pay to have the mud and dust cleaned off our carpets after each of their engineers visits. Someone at British Gas seems to have lost the focus on Customer Service and has their head stuck firmly in the sand.
