Liberty Wireless - cancelled order for cell phone - still charged, even overcharged - trying to get money back

Complaints.com received the following on June 12, 2003:

I am writing about a "so-called" cellular phone company called Liberty Wireless. About 6 weeks ago, I placed an order for one of their cell phones.

Before I could get the phone, I had to pay for it with my debit card. They said the order would be processed and I would have my phone within 5 days. 5 days went by, and I had no phone, so I called them. Well, they said the person that took my order entered something wrong and messed up the whole order, so for me to make ANOTHER order and they would rush it so I would have it within 3 days.

Of course, that didn't happen, so I had to place yet ANOTHER order (which was my own stupidity) and I spoke with a manager. He said since I had so many problems, he would overnight my phone. I called the next day to make sure my phone was coming, and they said the manager didn't know what he was talking about, it would take 7 days to get my phone!!!

So, I just cancelled the order and they sent me confirmation that it was cancelled, so I felt relieved. Well, about 2 weeks later, they charged my account for even more money than I was supposed to pay!!!

I have been arguing with this company for the past 2 weeks just trying to get my money back, and I still have not seen one penny of my money refunded, although they keep assuring me it will be in my account with 2 days every time I call, and it has been 15 days!!
