Chase Bank in Houston, Texas - upset that cashed check funds are only available after 3 or 4 days following check deposit

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on June 3, 2002:

RE: Chase Bank in Houston, Texas - upset that cashed check funds are only available after 3 or 4 days following check deposit

I do not have direct deposit at my job, and every Friday, I will deposit my check in the bank. All my funds should be available the next day and they are not.

My funds are giving to me over a 3 or 4 day period. I feel as if I am getting an allowance from Chase Bank . My checks that I am writing for my bills are bouncing and Chase are changing me $30.00 per check.

I have talk to many of Chase custom service representatives about this problem. One custom service representatives person on 5/31/2002 told me that I should take my busy to another bank and I should not write any check until the funds are available.

I cannot tell the utilities companies to wait till Chase release my funds that I have work for. I need food, gas, and personal items that I need each week and Chase wants me to wait 3 or 4 days to release my funds. I think this is unfair. I am not a rich person, and I am living from one pay to another.

My husband and I have a fixed annuity at Chase Bank in Wisconsin. When I tried to cash a $30.00 check from the State of Wisconsin Treasury Department, they wouldn't cash it, as I didn't have a checking account. THeir excuse, if the check wasn't good, they'd be out of the money. What a joke!!
