RE: VeriSign mails - misleading domain name Expiration Notices I am writing to COMPLAIN about a "Domain Name Expiration Notice" I received in the mail from VeriSign, Inc. I transfered my domain name from VeriSign to another registrar (GoDaddy.com) on Jan. 18, 2002. My domain name expires on Jan. 18, 2003. On or about May 20, 2002, I received a "Domain Name Expiration Notice" from VeriSign, indicating that I should renew and transfer my domain name "reply by June 20, 2002" and send them $29.00 This notice gives the appearance that my domain name is expiring before June 20, 2002 and that I should renew with Verisign or I will lose my domain name. I think this type of mail solicitation is very subversive and extremely misleading to consumers. Also, the envelope it was mailed in says "Expiration Notice Reply by June 20, 2002". If they want my business back, why don't they ask for it directly and honestly instead of trying to trick me.
