RE: Sentry supermarket, Hilldale Mall, Madison, Wisconsin - tried to pay by WIC check - rude service

Hi,

About a week ago, my wife and I went to a supermarket store named sentry in Madison Wisconsin. We paid our grocery by the WIC check which is given out to low income family like ours.

The cashier immediately looked at the peanut butter and said that this brand is not allowed no matter how we explained that we did buy this brand with the WIC check several times in other stores.

Her reaction was "no matter how many times you got away with, you are not going to do it with me."

And we asked for the check back and told her that we will go to other stores to buy this brand of peanut butter but she said " are you going to cheat around? If they catch you, your will be diqualified".

She said this in front of other customer with a hostle tone which humiliated us. Her name is Deb and the sentry store in located near Hilldale mall in madison wisconsin.

"Her name is Deb and the sentry store in located near Hilldale mall in madison wisconsin."

Is this line truly required? Whilst there may have been poor service, her name is not required. It is as if you are wanting for some reaction to be made.

I know not the rules and regulations over WIC checks, and I do not really know why "peanut butter" was such a problem. It is itrivial to argue over, both on your part and the cashier.

However, it was inappopriate for her to humiliate you in such a fashion, and instead of complaining here, why not take action and confront her, or better yet, her supervisor, about the issue.

I have been to the Hilldale Sentry store several times, and I found the service there to be quite well, and I rather liked how nice the employees were. Perhaps this "deb" no longer works there, and such an issue won't occur again.

If you read other complaints on this site, names addresses and employers names are almost always included with the complaint..this person has every right to post the employees name in his/her complaint after all what that employee did was wrong!! Sounds like to me she didn't like dealing with the WIC program and was probably one of those who felt people on such programs take money out of her pocket..Deb needs a lesson in customer service or else she needs to find a different job!!
