RE: Ramada LTD, East Dublin, GA - stay on 06/13/2002 - poor experience with stay and room
I travel often to many locations, such as Indiana, Georgia, and Florida just to name a few. On our last trip we decided to get a room at the Ramada LTD. in East Dublin, Georgia. Only after we called them and was told the room would be forty-five dollars a night. Once we was there we had to buzz someone to come to the desk. When the man came up on the phone we buzzed him on he asked "Yes?" I was like we would like to get a room for the night. He than act as if he was startled and said you do? I was thinking maybe he is busy in the back not really thinking to much on this at this point.
After we gave him our credit card we where told the charge was forty-nine dollars I did not want to question this price at the time due to family members there as well that travel up to meet us in Georgia from Florida. I knew they was tired. So we get are room number and card to get into the room. First the room was so hot! We turned the air on high.
And thought in time it will cool. Than we walk over to put our bags down. Let me remind you room was so hot the out side air of eighty something was cooler so we had leave the door open to breath in this room. Like any that rents a room your first thing is to check out your room. I walked over to the sink area to go wash up from the drive and right away I saw hair (black hair) on the towel hanging for me to dry my face. I pulled towel down quickly knowing my husband would had made a seen at the front desk. I still am thinking nothing bad what is a hair? Little to be said I went to turn TV on With the guide on the TV telling me what channels was what. And little to be said no cable in this room. We had I bet maybe ten channels on this TV. I than told my husband call the front desk.
There was no instructions on how to reach the front desk and there was no way we was going to walk down stairs after coming in from Lewistown, PA. We was tired. So I messed with remote and TV for several minutes and still could not get no channels to appear other than what seemed to come up as we turned on the TV. Than we went to get our suit cases to put cloths away and the one dresser that was in room was broke. When I say broke I mean the three doors that was there to use was collapsed in sitting on top of the others with huge gaps where the door just fell through and was left sitting there.
I was like saying words at this point. But still keep it with in me. I than had to use bathroom. door was open so I walked in to use it and noticed when I went to close it I had to stand more less against the wall to shut door being the door rubbed against the toilet. I could not believe this. Remind you room is still not cooling down. We had our company come into our room and notice when we told them to have a set that the recliner was yet broken. I told my husband out of all the rooms in this motel I could not believe we where handed this one. Our company could not believe this as well.
We where so hot we asked our husbands to get us something to eat and drink from store which was in walking distance. After they had left we decide to better inspect this room. I noticed the stand that held the TV was thick in dust. It had not been wiped in a long while. On top of that my guest said to me how about the microwave? I than opened it and said to her go figure. She laughed and said no way. I said yes way. There was splattered food all in this microwave. Our husbands returned and we said do not heat food in that it is gross. Of course they looked and was with the same response as we where. We finally had to take cool showers to cool off. It was just one mess after another.
We did stay there and did confront the desk clerk the next morning. Her response what dumb founded. Really? I don't understand. I was like look we called and was told one thing and charged another, our room was horrible and could barley cope with the heat to get sleep. I told my husband if they would offer us a night in a CLEAN, COOL room on them we would continue to stay there the remaining of the week that we was to be there. If not we will go else where. Little to be said this dumb founded lady did nothing to try and reimburse us on what we paid for and did not get. The sad thing is the couple that was with us staying in another room checked out there as well and went to another hotel as we did. We always pay day by day when we do hotel stays due to this fact.
The likely hood of us going back there is not good at all. What is bad is there was small hotels near by and we could had picked from them and it may had been cheaper butt in fact with the name Ramada we figured clean nice cool rooms. WRONG! I don't know if Ramada checks into who is running there hotels. But this really needs to be looked into. Empty rooms means the hotel is not making money and rather it be one or more people that went through what we did and that person tells of there stay you as many don't want to take that chance. That means empty rooms. I travel in many areas.
Fort Wayne Indiana, Dublin Georgia, East Dublin Georgia, Lewistown PA., Hershey PA, Danville PA, Atlanta GA, Washington DC, Jacksonville FL, Orange Park FL, I could go on and on. How ever you tell me if you would want to stay in another Ramada after this? I think that something needs to be done here. I would love to hear from Ramada and there reason for this. I would hope they would not be caught acting as dumb founded as this lady at the front desk.
