RE: Tesco Organic Milk (England) - tastes of plastic
I live in England but what I am about to write may affect anyone, anywhere. This is a very uncomplicated complaint: The Tesco own brand Organic milk in the 4 pint opaque plastic containers tastes of plastic, it is not just the smell of the plastic, it actually tastes of plastic when drunk from the container and when transferred from the container to a glass and drunk from the glass. Aside from this taste being unpleasant because the milk doesn't taste like milk it also raises some questions regarding food contained in plastic. If the liquid in the plastic container tastes and smells of plastic it stands to reason that chemicals from the plastic (of which there are many) have leached into the liquid and are then consumed, as human-beings are not meant to consume chemicals from plastics this is likely to be bad for us. There are numerous articles and websites regarding the effects of chemicals leaching into food, I do not wish to point out the details of those sites, however, I think my complaint stands up well on it's own just by the fact that the milk doesn't taste how it should taste due to the plastic container. I have noticed similar differences in other liquids, for example, anyone remember drinking certain soft drinks regularly from glass bottles and then changing to plastic or metal? Do they taste different? Ask your self why is that? It may be that the chemicals we are consuming do no harm or maybe they do, however I don't like the taste of plastic or metal so that is bad enough for me.
