Volvo 960 or S80
These two vehicles have the same engine. My 97 960 severely overheated and the engine melted during highway driving. There was no indication from any warning lights or temperature gauges. The car ran as normal until black smoke the the check engine light came on. By then it was too late. Volvo is refusing to fix my car. The entire engine needs to be replaced. It is important to note that this happened one day after I spoke to the Service Manager at the Herb Gordon Dealership where I purchased the car in Silver Spring, Maryland. I had called because the fan was occasionally running after the car was turned off. There was no other indication of malfunction. The car was running as usual and all fluid levels were within the normal range. Anyone else out there with a 960 or S80 that has had any problem with overheating, let Volvo and your attorney know. I do not believe that my car is the only one with this difficulty.
