My wife & i booked a vacation on the Carnival Cruise Lines ship the Holiday leaving out of New Orleans , La. on June 30, 2003. Which turned out to be a very rainey monday afternoon. The ship was delayed from leaving for 9 hours, resulting in loosing one of our ports of call with nothing in return. The Lido deck dining area was far from being clean. The food was compariable to the Shoneys buffet. Sorry, Shoneys is better. The Four Winds Dining room was far from a four star dining room, more like two. I was ten minutes late getting back to the ship. It was about 100 yards off the pier, there was a pilot launch boat at the pier that could have taken me to the ship. After repeated calls over the radio by the ships agent, Capt. Candeloro donato refused to accept me onboard. I work on the Mississippi River & have transferred from boat to ship many times before. This would not have been a problem for me. I was left at the pier with the clothes on my back (swimming attire) &luckily my wallet. I paid for the hotel & the airfare to return home & two days of the cruise lost. Somewhere around $900.00 out of my pocket that i was not expecting or can not afford. My wife sailed for two days without me .

When i called the ships Chief Purser Holly & asked for permission to board the ship on its return to New Orleans to help my wife with anything that was needed, she told me that i would be able to board. When i arrived on the gangway saturday morning Holly told that i was not allowed on board. Nothing was done by Carnival to help in any way. Damage resulting = I am in debt $900.00 to my credit card co. which i don't have. I been stressed out. Not to mention the stress it put between my wife & i. My wife also told me that a Croation waiter in a white uniform was hitting on her. He said that crew members are not allowed in passengers rooms but passengers could go to crew members rooms.
