RE: Freeserve ISP, UK - slow dialup connection speed Britain's worst ISP? Freeserve certainly appears to be that in my opinion. Following its huge advertising campaign to attract new subscribers, it seems its contention ratio has gone to pot. Despite installing new settings all I get are endless disconnections and speeds so slow they make a snail seem athletic.
The so-called Freeserve 'dialler' -- which cuts in when the prime connection can't be made because Freeserve doesn't reply -- wastes my time hunting for Freeserve numbers that do work. What a shambles. (I couldn't even send this promptly because Freeserve disconnected after three minutes). Nothing wrong with the line here or the PC as btopenworld and Tiscali are all accessible instantly and at speed.
Goodbye, Freeserve: at the price it charges -- higher than others -- this is definitely one ISP no longer worth bothering with. Oh: Freeserve's dialler has now spent eight minutes trying to find a Freeserve number it can actually dial into. So now we're on 'we are connecting you to Freeserve' attempt number six. . . Ludicrous!
