RE: Target - air conditioning unit out of stock - trouble with rain check - rude service

about a month ago, I went to Target at about 4 p.m. on Sunday, the first day of the sale on air conditioners at $98 for a 5200 BTU.

There were none, and depending on who I believe, there had either been 2 or 14 at the beginning of the day. I was told that MAYBE more would be coming in but that there was no guarantee of that on SEASONAL merchandise.

I called every morning for a week and each day, they'd say "Try tomorrow." When I went back the following week, I talked to a manager, and she told me that IF they did come in, there were there were 52 rain checks ahead of me, so I wasnt' likely to get one anyway!

Now, the rainchecks were in a little box on the shelf where the A.C.'s SHOULD have been, and people would fill them out and stick them in the box -- so how do I know that mine stayed where I'd put it? SOmeone AFTER me, could have put his/her raincheck ahead of mine. OK - it's now a month later and I've never heard back from Target.

WHen I returned from vacation, I saw TARGET on my caller ID, but there was no message on my machine, so I am ASSUMING that they called re: the raincheck and that by not being home, I was out of luck. I phoned the 800 customer service, and had an older gentleman speak very condescendingly to me and gave me no feeling that anyone there cared.

I wrote an e-mail to Target and was told that the address was only for on-line purchase complaints, but it also stated that my complain by phone was already on record -- I have the impression that Target just doesnt' care! (I have purchased the a.c. elsewhere in the meantime) === Cheryl == "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss
