RE: Rheem 10 Seer outdoor air conditioner - upset about loud noise
I have a problem with a Rheem outdoor air conditioning unit that no one, the installer nor the distributor seems to want to help me resolve the problem. I have 2 Rheem outdoor units for my home, one unit for the upstairs and one unit for the downstairs. One unit is fine, the other makes a weird 'Woom, Woom Woom' noise 10 seconds afetr the fan starts on the unit and it comes on. It is so loud that you can hear it from the street.
Not only can you hear it from the street, you can hear it in the house, it is so loud that you have to turn the televison volume up 5 notches in order to hear the program on the televison. The installer has told me that it is from the pipes vibrating in the walls, if that is so, how come you can hear it from the street.
I have called him 3 times and he is ignoring me and has not called me back. I know it is unusual because when the other unit kicks on, all you can hear is the fan. Can someone contact me via e-mail and help me try and resolve this problem. I have called the local Rheem distributor and let him a message, but it has been over a week and he has not called me back. It seems that the local distributor and the installer know each other. Sincerely, Aik-Meng Tan
