RE: 2000 Ford Explorer XLT - Manufacturing Defect - left hinge on the liftgate of my 2000 Ford Explorer has failed Dear Mr. Ford: I hope you can help me. I have a complaint I'd like to register with you about the quality of a car made by Ford Motor Company. The left hinge on the liftgate of my 2000 Ford Explorer has failed. Ford's own people say this is the result of a manufacturing defect. Ford Motor Company was contacted via telephone and via certified mail. Ford refused in writing to repair the failure. The cost of the repair is approximately $1750.00. As a result of this, you have most likely lost my future business, and I can't see myself recommending your cars to my friends and family. Here's what I would like to see you do to provide resolution: Repair the liftgate hinge at no cost to me. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely,

Robert C. Smith
