RE: Weddings By Debbie - Katy, TX - unhappy with wedding dress and service received

Yes, I did purchase the dress. And that was part of the problem - Lupe indicated that she does not speak to anyone about the dress but the bride. The bride, Krystal, had requested that I handle these discussions because I have sewed my own clothes since I was 13 years old and I'm now 48. Krystal did not understand what Lupe was telling her about her dress and had informed Lupe that I would be handling the discussions on the alterations to the dress with her directly.

The wedding dress that was purchased for my son's new bride for their wedding date of 7/7/02 was a horrible experience. We visited the above establishment at the Bridal Extravaganza earlier this year in Houston, TX. The head seamstress, Lupe, guaranteed us numerous alterations to the dress at a nominal fee. We were shocked to learn that the initial quote of approximately $300 for alterations was soon a whopping $600+. Lupe, was rude and obnoxious, two of three times that we were in the establishment.

The second time she REFUSED to complete the dress. After speaking to the co-owner of the store he assured me that Lupe would complete the dress to our satisfaction. NOT TRUE - When I went to pick up the dress on 7/5/02 from their pressers - the zipper of the dress looked horrible and was gaping open so that the zipper showed instead of the button placket.

After complaining for over 20 minutes they sent an associate seamstress to place hooks and eyes to close this zipper. For $947 you would think that you could get a quality product. However, at the 11th hour I was sewing the zipper placket shut by hand.

This establishment was a horrible experience for the bride to be. Two of the three times that she was in for alterations, Lupe had the bride in tears numerous times.

The worst part is that no one in the store seems to care about the bride or doing a good job. I was and am appalled. I urge all brides to be to not use this unprofessional and unskilled (in my opinion) establishment.
