Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven / Broiler -need to unplug after each use

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on July 14, 2002:

Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler #TOB-30 - Sale Price $99.99. Purchased 6-7 mos ago. Warranty sent in. Cannot locate sales receipt.

2-3" of cord and plug get extremely hot when using the appliance (even for 1 slice of bread). Food burns before cooking. Plug is always pulled when not in use as instructed by booklet. When product was purchased, I called Cuisinart and asked whey the cord had to be pulled after every use.

I do not have to do this with any other appliance. They did not have an explanation, but just told me to follow instructions.
