RE: Chevrolet Impala 2000 - brake pads are damaging rotors

I had my brakes examined 3 months ago, and was told by the mechanic to listen to the squealing warning sound from the brake pads. I didn't hear any warning noise and all of a sudden at 50 km per hour, I hear a metal to metal screeching noise.

It was on a Friday evening, the dealership was closed, so I went out and purchased the front brake pads, only at 50% off what I would pay at the dealership counter. My mechanic, upon examining the brake pads noticed that the squealer, the warning pad was never engaged. In his opinion, the brake pads were defective. Guess what?

A General Motors dealer and GM customer service office refuses to repair the damaged rotor. The vehicle is still under warranty. After all, I am not asking for the brake pads replacement, but for the rotor that was damaged. Impalas are made right in my backyard, in Oshawa.

I live in Toronto, Canada. I will be conducting a study with the University of Toronto, Mechanical Engineering department, so you can forward to me the defective brake pads that fail to engage the squeeler. RomanTORONTO Canada M5S 2S7
