RE: GE Profile Dryer, $200 in repairs in two years, two year dryer dead

This is in regards to a GE Profile Dryer, purchased two years ago. Paid around $400 at Sears. Repairs started just two weeks after purchase.

We are now up to $200 in repairs in just two years. The "official" GE repairman told us "it is a piece of junk, you will just have to live with it" (the dryer drum guides keep wearing out and it makes a huge noise so loud you can hear it outside of the house-they are cheap plastic parts). The timer has been broken since two weeks after purchase.

The dryer will run and run until you go turn it off manually. The plastic all around the inside of the entrance to dryer has all cracked and broken and torn numerous items of clothing.

The repairman came back twice, brought his manager back, they all say "piece of junk, don't put anymore money into it, it will just break again, get a new one"

A dryer that lasts TWO years????

The last one I owned lasted 10 years.

Get a new one?

We are a family of five, we do not have the money, we need a clothes dryer.

It is too humid an area to dry clothes outside. I have a back injury, I can not carry loads of wet clothes to the laundromat.

I have written to GE, the Major Appliance Consumer Group and BBB. Do NOT purchase GE products, they are in fact pieces of junk that are not

worth your money.
