RE: Cresleigh Financial Services - charged $ 300 appraisal fee - was told would not have to pay this fee I refinanced my home mortage with Cresleigh Financial Services, Jay Featherson was my contact at Cresleigh. I paid for my first appraisal with Statewide Appraisal Service (company picked by Jay) in April of 2002.
When it was time for the loan to close, Jay called and informed me that the appraisal would not be accepted by the lender, so I needed another appraisal done, but Jay stated don't worry you won't have to pay for this one.
At closing on May 25, 2002 I noticed a charge of $300 for appraisal services on the settlement statement. The closing agent did not know anything about it but stated to contact Jay who conveniently was on vacation until the 3 days for cancelling the loan had expired.
I called Jay numerous times but no return calls. Finally I spoke with Jay and he said he was sorry he didn't think I was going to have to pay either, but at least I didn't have to pay up front this time. I called Jay's manager, and received the same information. I feel this was not fair and I don't want anyone else to get caught it the same situation.
