Terri's Consign & Design Furnishings, San Diego, CA - damaged occured to consigned item

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on July 9, 2002:

I have a complaint about the subject that I want broadcasted so others can avoid the same problems: Terri's Consign&Design Furnishings picked up my family heirloom cherrywood chest in excellent condition to sell in their furniture store on consignment. They charged me $65 to pick up.

When it did not sell within the month, I asked them to deliver the piece back to me as originally agreed for the same price. When it was brought back to me, the piece had considerable damage done to it. There were scratches on the surface, flashing had broken off the front, a piece of wood was chipped off the top and the black legs had large yellow paint scrape marks on them.

When I called the manager to express complete horror at the damage done to a beautiful piece of furniture, she noted that on the contract of consignment it specifies "that C&D will be held harmless for any damage to the consigned item". When I asked if there were anyone she could send to repair the damage, she said she had no one to do the work.

I think that they should have someone available for instances like this and also to hire deliverymen who are conscientious about handling people's property with care--as if it were their own! I had inspected the chest as it was displayed in the store and it looked the same as it had when it was picked up originally.

I assume the damage was done during the process of re-delivering it back to my house. I believe Terri's Consign&Design should have someone repair the damage. If they cannot supply repair, then there should be no charge for delivery so I can use the money and find someone to do the work.

Scam is right. Still haven't been paid and my furniture sold in May. It's now almost January. Stay away from them!!!

Terri's is a scam, they are giving everyone the run around and not paying when items are sold. Stay away from these people... tons of bad reviews online.
