RE: 71/4" Craftsman Industrial circular saw - switch broken out of the box - $ 90.00 to repair

I bought my then fiancee a 71/4" Craftsman Industrial circular saw for his birthday, with my Sears credit card. It sat in the closet for almost three years, unopened. The day he decided he would use it he unpacked it and plugged it in, and the switch was broken. I have contacted Sears, sent email to Craftsman etc. All I get is the run-around. When I called them they said the "Craftsman guarantee only covers small handtools like screwdrivers, etc." According to their return policy as long as it's in the original packaging it can be returned. It is. And my now husband was told it would cost $90.00 to repair it. I don't think this is fair. It's never been used and I was under the impression that Craftsman stood behind their guarantee on all their tools. That's the reason n I bought it in the first place. Thank you Mrs. Lois Vanover P>S> I have copies of the emails that I have sent
