RE: Failure of Consumer Service Process of US Postal Service...
On June 27, 01 I filed a Consumer Service Card, with the Postmaster of the Alsrtead, NH Post Office about a complaint that I had about undue noise in the Public Area of the Alstead, P.O. I have tinnitus and such noise causes my ear problem to get even louder. I must use the facility as I have a P.O.Box there. The Postmaster took my complaint about the loud noise being made by a large floor cleaning machine, in our tiny P.O. as a joke and threw the complaint card at me as sort of a challenge to do something about it. I filled it out, was given a copy and to date, have heard nothing more. The card clearly states "Thank you, you will be contacted soon by your Post Office." After not hearing anything for 3 weeks I found the webpage of the Postal Service and the Consumer Service section, where you can file a complaint, online. I did so and told of Form #G02671362 that I filed with the Postmaster in Alstead, NH 03602 on 6/27/01 and had no response. This site was to respond in 24 hours. To date, I have had no response, after a week and a followup message to the site. Of what use are the complaint prodceedures of the Postal Service if they don't respond to their own process? How does one get their attention? Sincerely yours. WALTER K.
