RE: Arch Wireless Beeper - HELP Pleasantburg Drive is still in bueiness on

approximately the 20th of February of 2000 and

contracted a beeper with them. I paid in full $125

which they stated was the amount for one year's

contract. In December of 2000 my son accidently lost

my beeper and we looked and looked for it but could

not find it. I called Arch around the first week of

January, 2001 and told them I lost the beeper and that

I did NOT want to renew another year and asked them

did I owe anything. They told me that I dod not owe

anything and that they would note that I called and I

would no longer have any contract with them and

thanked me for calling them. I said is there anything

else I needed to do and she said no.

My contract was up around the first week in February, 2001 and I know

that this notification on the phone was more than 30

day NOTICE. Around the last of April I received a

letter from Arch saying that I owed $63.67, I

immediately called them and told them that I had

called the first week in January and had told them the

beeper was lost and that I did NOT WANT TO RENEW THE

CONTRACT WITH THEM. She siad that they did not have

any record of the call and that I did not call in

January. I did call and have several people who were

sitting at the table having lunch when I called and

they heard me call. I told her again nicely that I

had called and her remark was she did not care if I

called or not that I WAS GOING TO PAY THE AMOUNT. I

just said goodbye. In April I received a notice from

CollectechSystems stating that I owed this $63.67. I

called them and told them what had happened and that I

had called Arch twice once in January and once in

April. The woman was very nasty and rude and said she

didn't care that I would have to pay this amount. I

then asked to speak to a supervisor and she said she

was a supervisor and said there was nothing I could

do. I now have received another letter from

CollectechSystems and I called again and asked to

speak to a manager this time and he was very nice and

polite but said that there was a fee for canceling a

contract unless I called 30 days prior to the date of

the end of the contract. I told him I did call and

cancel the contract 30 days before even more than 30

days. He said that I had to send them a letter at

that time too. No one ever told me that I had to send

a letter just that I needed to call 30 days prior to

the contract ending date. I don't know what to do.

This is really hurting my credit report. I am an

elderly gentleman who served in Vietnam, stepped on a

land mine, had a quadruple bypass surgery a year ago

and have diabetes and colon cancer and this is the way

they TREAT US.

I don't know if you can help me or not but if you know

or have anyone that you can contact or write to please

let me know. Thank you for any cooperation you can

give to this matter. Eugene Nelson Lockaby, Jr., my

current address is 10 Capewood Rd., #252,

Simpsonville, SC, 29680. Phone # 1-864-430-6641.

Thank you.
