RE: Nordic Track Treadmill / ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. On April 22, 2001 I purchased a Nordic Track Treadmill EXP1000i from Sears, Joliet, Illinois. The treadmill was delivered and set up on April 28, 2001. I used the treadmill until May 27, 2001, I tried to turn on the treadmill and it was without power. I checked my circuit breaker all was fine, I checked the outlet the surge protector was plugged into and all was fine then I plugged the treadmill into another outlet and still no power. Tuesday May 29,2001 I called ICON customer service and spoke with Jenny, she indicated that it was the console of the treadmill and that she would send me a replacement which I was to receive within 7-10 days and that I did not need a service tech. because the console was the easiest part to replace.
Needless to say after 10 days there was still no console, so I called and spoke with Todd who advised the treadmill console was backordered until the end of June (I never received any type of notice of the backorder). I asked where can I file a complaint, Todd said he would take care of it(right!). I finally received the replacement console on the week of June 20th. Now I had to try and replace the console (no easy task).
When I could not get one of the connections made, I called ICON customer service for help, they said they would schedule a Service Tech to come out and replace the console (This was on June 20th). The Service Tech was suppose to be at my home on June 26th, I received a call from the Service Tech stating he had an emergency and could not come. Since then I had not heard one word from ICON or the Service Tech (I sent several letters to the company, emails and phone calls - all with no response). I have requested in writing that ICON reimburse me at least the $80.00 we incurred for set up fees of both treadmills. On July 1, 2001 we took the Nordic Track treadmill and both consoles (not attached) back to Sears and requested our money back, which we were refunded. We purchased another brand treadmill that is serviced by Sears, because we know Sears will stand behind their customers!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note: I sent letters to the following executives at ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. and they have not had the decency to respond and back up their product, company or their positions as professionals!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our one worked fine for just over 12 months then the running board snapped and since then we have had no end of problems getting them to respond and put the matter right. That was about 18 months ago and we still don't have a fully working treadmill. Most of the time they ignore our contacts and when they do reply they say they will deal with it as soon as they can but never do. Anyone reading this would be advised to buy a treadmill from someone else.
