Saban's rent-a-car

From:

Date: Saturday, July 14, 2001 11:53 AM Saban's rent-a-car is a local Phoenix car rental business that has a reputation for bad business dealings. I was recently involved in an automobile accident with a young man who was in a Saban's rental car. In Arizona, the owner, not the driver, is financially liable for damages caused in an accident. After freely admitting that they were responsible to take care of my damages, they refused to provide me with a rental car. You would think this would have been the easiest thing for them to do. They promised several times to send someone out to do an estimate on my car, and no one ever showed up. They delayed and procrastinated until I gave up and turned everything over to my own insurance company.

My insurance had to handle everything and sue Saban's to recover. They get away with this because they are "self-insured" and there was no insurance company to deal with directly. This business takes pride in the fact that it rents to "Anyone". If you're under 21 and don't have a credit card, this is the business that will rent to you. They won't, however, deal fairly with you if there is ever a problem. Don't do business with these people.

My boyfriend just ran into the same type of issue with this very shady company. He needed a vehicle but was unsure for how long. He left a $300 deposit but needed to return the car the next day because it was in such bad shape, would not reverse very well, extremely dirty and it felt as though the engine was about to fall out. They had said the weekly rate would be $129, yet when he went back just a day later they charged him almost $200 for an unsafe vehicle and only gave him back 100 of his 300. They should lose their operating license.

I have never dealt with people this unprofessional. When I returned my car I asked them to go over my charges because it didn't make sense how I got so many different charges on my card equaling to $800. The guy pretty much told me to fuck off and started cursing at me. He said he went over this with me 6 times when he only did it once before. I have never been at a business establishment where the customer was told to fuck off. Right before he blew a gasket on me he yelled at someone else on the phone and hung up on them. This place should be sued and shut down.

This company totally took advantage of me. I recently moved to Arizona and my car broke down. I had to have my car towed to get repaired and there was no other rental place open, so I had no choice. They quoted me 39.00 per day. I told them I would only need it for a couple of days. I returned the car after one day. The car they rented me had a headlight out and it shook as I drove it down the freeway. They charged me 282.82 for one day!! They charged me a cleaning fee and told me when I returned it that they had no daily rates. Not sure why they quoted me a daily rate over the phone and in person as I rented the vehicle. They put a 450.00 "hold" on my debit card. I just found out they charged the full amount to my car. I was not hold but in fact a charge. All for a ONE DAY RENTAL - 450.00!!! My credit card company is looking into this. I am contacting BBB and the news!! This company has to be stopped.

Boy did i just get ripped off by Sabans as well. I rented a car from them with the assumption that it was only 99.oo for the week. that is what was explained to me and they swiftly took my 300.00 as a deposit. The car was'nt in the best condition, ran rough, and there was only an eigth of a tank of gas in it. when i took the car back after 1 week, I was charged 280.00 for the renta! I was charged more because I didn't use a credit or debit card, charged a cleaning fee and the car wasn't even dirty when I returned it. I was charged 16.95 per day for their insurance when i had my own that covers rentals. The taxes were ridiculous, and the sales agent refused to accept any responsibility for ripping me off and told me to deal with someone else in another office. please, if anyone out there is looking to rent a car without a credit or debit card, don't go to sabans

I rented a car from this company at $29.95 per day. When I rented the vehicle they crossed out the $29.95 rate and put $39.95. Can you believe that. Right in my face! He told me i had a $39.95 rate vehicle. All their cars are very old and smell like smoke. They also added a cleaning and maintance fee of $13.95. I rented the car for one day (19hrs) I did not have any items in the car or food. The total rental came out to $89.00! The location is run down and so is the staff. I warn you! Do not do business with this company. I did some research on this company and the operate under the name A Able car Rental too. Also the have bad reports at www.ripoffreport.com.

I rented a vehicle from them for 3 days. When I took the vehicle, they didn't put how many miles it had on it when I left in the contract, it was a $99 a day rental. For day, NOT for miles. Upon returning the vehicle, they tried to say that I drove it more than 2000 miles and owed them $1900! When I refused to pay and told them that if they charged it to my bank I would have the payment cancelled, the OWNER began to threaten and curse at me! He made several very crude remarks about me and my husband. He locked my husband and I out of the building and refused to speak to me, saying that he was filing felony charges for nonpayment. He has already taken $800 out of my bank account. This is the most unprofessional, rude, vulgar, and dishonest establishment I have EVER done business with, and I will NEVER return. I have already hired a lawyer and am working on a civil suit. I have also contacted the local news. I highly discourage usage of this company. Enterprise is who I use now, and they are much better!
