CompUSA, 10201 University Ave., Des Moines, IA - haven't received Viewsonic or HP rebates

Complaints.com received the following consumer message on January 29, 2003:

The CompUSA is located in Des Moines, Iowa - 10201 University Avenue.

September 7, 2002, we purchased a computer system at CompUSA ( This was the second complete system with printer we purchased from this store. The other was purchased in August 2002.) Part of the offer was a rebate on the HP System and one on the Viewsonic VA520 LCD Flat Panel.

I submitted the required rebate forms and materials and have yet to receive a rebate. The Viewsonic Flat Panel was for $100 and the HP system was $250. I logged on to the "Where's My Rebate?" site and found out that the rebate for the monitor was approved and had been mailed but I never received the check. The other rebate was not approved because the UPC code was missing which I find odd since I cut it off the box and sent it with the rebate form and sales slip.

I sent an email through the "Contact Us" screen on this site in November and did not receive a response. Also, I keep getting a busy signal when I call the number listed on the site. If CompUSA and the manufacturers did not intend to pay the rebates they should not advertise them in the first place. Just give it to consumers in the form of a sale price at time of purchase. I will not be inclined to recommend CompUSA and certainly will warn people about falling for rebate offers. My email address is Email User
