In these troubled times, when many are living paycheck to paycheck, the banks' policy of closing down accountS, which have been "delinquent" for a week creates many hardships. Often, the consumer is not aware of an overdraft fee or other fee, which sent his balance into the red.
At the end of the month, it is a great surprise to find that the account is closed. It is a great hassle to appease creditors, reopen the account - if possible - etc.
Someone should address this. It happened to me at WACHOVIA . AOL had posted fees of which I had no knowledge. They posted them twice, for two separate items and I was charged 30,- for each transaction - a total of 120.-. My account went dead and I had no clue because it wasn't my primary account.
However, it was too late to reopen it when I found out and it caused irreparable harm to me and my children. WHERE ARE YOU, RALPH NADER ?
