This letter was prompted because of a situation that occurred at one of your Southern California stores that changed my fast food eating experience, forever. I had been dining at the McDonald’s located at 2701 W. Mac Arthur Boulevard in Santa Ana, California (#15291) for years. I work across the street and always appreciated the relatively fast pace at which I could get my food, especially if I were in a hurry. This day was different. I had plenty of time to go in, sit down and enjoy my meal. I was in line to place my order and another customer asked if she could get in front of me to return a sandwich that had been made incorrectly upon her specific request. Of course I allowed her to take my turn and speak to someone that could assist her. A few minutes after I placed my order, I sat down to eat.

A co-worker of mine came in and I invited him to join me. He ordered and brought his food to my table. He opened his McRib sandwich and we both couldn’t believe what we were looking at. What he had been given was a McRib sandwich that had a lip-stick stained bite taken out of it. We were disgusted. I told him to take it back and speak with a Manager. The Manager did not believe that he had not been the one to take that bite and she came to our table and asked me if his story were true.

I witnessed for him and even told the Manager it was that probably the same lady that I met in line earlier and pointed her out. She shrugged her shoulders and brought us another sandwich. No apology was given. It was incredible to be the recipients of such terrible service, lack of morality and complete abandon of sanitary training and consideration.

Normally service like this can be brushed off as ‘typical’ or ‘it’s just how things are these days’ but that fact that returned food was simply re-sold and serviced again was appalling. As for the both of us as loyal customers, those days are over. We are hoping our co-workers and friends agree when we choose to let them know how your fast food operation functions. We sincerely regret that this had to happen and how it could have been completely avoided if proper concern and respect were given to your customers.
