PASS PETS, Clarksville, TN - strong odor, filthy animals

Complaints.com received the following e-message on January 5, 2002:

PASS PETS, Clarksville, TN - strong odor, filthy animals

I live in the Clarksville, TN area and would like to do more than complain about "Pass Pets" located in Governer's Square Mall. I would like to see the Humane Society or SOMEBODY, ANYBODY close their store.

The odor from the store is the first disgrace one notices when walking by. Yes, animals do have a smell, but this place is ridiculous. The stench is nothing more than lack of cleaning and concern on behalf of the staff (is you can call them staff).

There were only two people working (teenage kids) and they were much too interested in talking to their teenage friend who was loafing near the cash register. They didn't even notice that I was standing there until I interrupted their converstation. If a potential paying customer can't even get their attention, can you imagine what those poor animals must endure?

Those inadequacies might have been tolerable if the animals appeared to be properly cared for. However, the cages that the dogs were in weren't even big enough for a bunny rabbit. There was a golden retriever in a cage so small, he couldn't even stand or stretch.

There were two puppies in the front display window that were FILTHY and had obviously been neglected for too long. On a previous visit there was a small puppy that was bleeding from his behind.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this "buisness" is inhumane and should be stopped. I'm not a member of PETA or any kind of extremist animal rights group. I'm simply a person who feels compassion for people and animals who can't help themselves.

HOW CAN PLACES LIKE THIS STAY IN BUSINESS??????????????
