Ryobi 12 volt Cordless Drill - one battery dead after 9 months, another almost dead

I have owned a Ryobi 12 volt Cordless Drill for about a year. One battery has been dead for 3 months and the other is dying too. I can stop the drill with my bare hand by simply grabbing the Jacobs . How long are they supposed to last? Can they be refurbished? Where can I get batterys at a reasonable price?? Leonard Bibbo
