National Geographic Society (NGS) credit card # 32 for January 19, 2002
Complaints.com received the following e-message on January 18, 2002:

National Geographic Society (NGS) credit card
I wanted to apply for the National Geographic Society (NGS) credit card in order to receive an introductory 0% interest rate for 6 months and a FIXED rate after that...All to support the Society. Instead, First USA transferred my balance and will provide me the 0% interest rate for 6 months (or so they say).
However, the interest rate after the introductory period is not fixed! The rate is tied to the Prime plus a certain number of points above it - a flexible rate.
I called First USA (NGS Card Services) to have them reverse the balance transfer or provide me a fixed rate as originally offered. They said they could not reverse the transfer process and that I would have to contact the originating bank.
Additionally, First USA said they do not have any fixed rates available at this time. I asked if they would reimburse me for any fees that my previous bank might charge me upon request of reversing the balance transfer. First USA said they would not!
I am ashamed of the National Geographic Society and First USA.
