I have a 2001 Cadillac DTS and it is using 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles and GM is giving me the run around. I bought the car new and it has always used oil. I have been doing oil consumption tests on the car for the last six months and the dealership and Gm have not been very cooperative in settling the issue.

I have had to go to the better business bureau for help. They have not handled the claim as of yet but hopefully soon. Philip Hendrick in Shelby NC E-mail COMPLAINTS.COM_FORM_MAIL_22062#

I have a 2002 DTS and it had the same problem at 48,000 miles. After an oil consumption study, the dealer admitted that these Northstar engines were originally fitted with pistons that had short skirts, which caused piston slap problems and tended to develop ring-sticking problems. They replaced my pistons, rings, and several other parts at no charge.
