RE: Intuit - Quickbooks - being forced to upgrade Quickbooks software in order to exchange data with accountant - don't think Intuit's scheme of forced absolence is good business For the third year in a row I'm being forced to upgrade my QuickBooks software. There is nothing that I want or need in each year's new version, but I'm forced to upgrade because otherwise I am unable to exchange data with my accountant. As someone who makes his living in the software industry I'm not at all sympathetic with Intuit's gimmick of forced obsolence.

There is nothing about the data structure for basic accounting that needs to change from year to year, but Inuit appears to be intentionally changing the data structure so that users such as myself are forced to upgrade. Intuit is misleading it's customers into thinking that the purchase of QuickBooks is a one time event. In reality, however, I'm adding an additional $100 a year to Intuit's coffers for nothing that I want or need. Richard Ackermann
