RE: Vision Windows of Chantilly, VA - cost to cap windows included in quote, but extra cost demanded to cap all windows

This is what happened.

I requested a quote for window replacement including the capping of all the window frames. Capping is a separate process which covers the wooden part of the window frame that is actually not the window.

I compared prices with other vendors, called them, and again, repeated the capping of the window frames. They came out, and capped all but 6 frames. These six were the ones that had some more detail to them. They then said it wasn't on the contract, and then we agreed on a "fair, in-between" price to get them done....$100 more. When they came out, the person said it would cost $600.

I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, called VISA to dispute the charge, and have not heard from them since early January. I contacted them in early January to tell them what I was going to do. They didn't seem to care.

There is also a complaint against them at Digital City of Washington DC.

Hope this helps.

I checked and got estimates for replacing all the windows (19) in our house, and I specifically told all the window salespeople that I needed the wood "ALL AROUND" the outside window frames "capped". All sales people said it wouldn't be a problem, and they included the cost of doing so in the estimates.

When it came time to doing that, Vision said they would only "cap" the immediate "frames" of the windows, and doing the six windows that needed additional capping would cost $600.

I called my credit card company to dispute the final 50% balance, and also got in touch with the Better Business Bureau. The credit card company has taken the final charge balance off our bill, and the Better Business Bureau received a letter from the president of the company that was totally false.
