RE: Seamans Furniture, Cherry Hill, NJ - delivered broken sofa - replacement sofa was also delivered damaged

My complaints is on Seamans Furniture in Cherry Hill, NJ.

On January 4, 2003 my husband and I went to purchase furniture at Seamans. We selected a set and had it delivered on 1/21/03. This day I had to take off from work. After the deliverymen had left, I sat down and the springs onthe back of the sofa were busted.

I called the service line and was told a deleivery man would have to come out. On 1/28/03, the man came out and said that he had to replace the entire sofa. Another day I had to take off. The next night My husband sat on the love seat and the same thing was wrong with that. I called the service center again and they said they would have to set up another service call for that piece. I refused and told them I just wanted both pieces replaced. They finally agreeed. On 2/15/03, the second set of new furniture was delivered. Before the delivery men left my husband pushed ont he furniture.

That to was damaged. I called the service line again. They said they could only give me another even exchange. I set up a time for one more exchangeon 2/28/03. On 2/19/03 I received a call from the service center wanting to confirm a service man would be out the next day. This was enough for me. I called the store and spoke with a manager. He gave me the number for the Presidential office. I called and told woman that I wanted them to just pick up the furniture and refund my $500 deposit back.

I wanted to go to a completed different store. I was told that I was not getting my money back but I could go to the store and choose a new set. I went out on 2/22/03 and picked out a completely different set from a different manufacturer. I was not compensated in any way for our troubles.

We haven't received the new set yet but my fingures are crossed and I am praying this one is not defective. Needless to say, I saw a dinette set at Seaman's that I was in love with but I will find it some where else. I will no longer purchase furniture from Seaman's nor will I recommend them to anyone.
