RE: Gateway - purchased PC - didn't get enhanced keyboard promised - denied $ 50 rebate for purchase of flat screen monitor
Last October I purchased a computer from Gateway. The salesmen were very nice and my computer was delivered post haste. While I was deciding on a model I was informed that there was an enhanced keyboard included. The keyboard did not arrive with the computer. I called the salesman and he agreed to order the keyboard. It did not arrive and I called several times to no avail. My calls were never returned.
I even stopped by the store and left a personal message. Nothing. Eventually, it was about three months now, I got hold of the salesman and the keyboard was ordered and delivered. The only problem is that the keyboard is not compatable and does not work with this model. There were no instructions of any information that this keyboard would not work. In addition, I received a rebate voucher in the mail for $50.00 rebate for purchasing a flat screen monitor. I was all printer with the model and the eligibality dates. I complied with all the rules and returned the voucher, only to receive a note advising me that it was a mistake and I was not eligible. They did offer a discount at the Gateway store (which I probably will never use) instead of the rebate. I wrote a letter of complaint and have not received any answer. The computer works well enough but these two small occurances will keep me from ever buying anything Gateway again.
